There are few prints as synonymous with the Princess of Wales as polka dots. Of course, the royal has a soft spot (ahem) for plenty of coveted patterns, including heritage checks and tartan, yet every season, the former Duchess of Cambridge returns to the playful appeal of the dotty print.

It’s a style signature that’s proven surprisingly easy to recreate, too, and I believe I’ve found a frock akin to the RIXO midi she wore back in 2022.

The doppelgänger dress in question? Boden's Marcia Jersey Shirt Dress. Designed in a burnt orange hue and featuring navy spots, along with a like-for-like shirt dress silhouette, the midi channels the Princess’s now sold-out RIXO dress, which came in the same shade but with white polka dots.

There is, admittedly, one key difference: the price. While Kate’s original dress is now sold out, if you had managed to snap it up, it would have set you back around £300. Boden’s version, however, is far more affordable and is currently heavily discounted in the brand’s seasonal sale. Right now, it costs just £60.

Incredibly comfortable, Boden’s dress is crafted from jersey fabric - a brilliant choice if you’re looking for something less restrictive and far more lightweight as we begin to see sunnier spring days. It’s also less likely to crease than other dress fabrics, meaning no unnecessary ironing or steaming.

A great option for both polished and casual occasions, it pairs well with plenty of shoes in your existing rotation. For a bit more insulation, opt for pointed-toe boots, and once the weather warms up, switch to Mary Janes, sans socks.
