If a sudden heatwave wasn't on your May bingo card, I imagine you'll be surprised to hear that temperatures are set to hit 27℃ in the capital by Friday, followed by an impressive 30℃ next Monday. So, if you've been putting off your holiday shop, now might be the time to rethink your plan of action, and get ahead while the iron is still, well, hot.
If, however, you've already been searching for your next summer frock, I wouldn't be surprised if (like me), you've been constantly refreshing and checking the M&S new in section in hopes of spotting a brilliant number perfect for the warmer weather.
Earlier this week, I spotted a floral midaxi dress in bright orange and striking pink, and instantly knew it would become a best seller - especially with wedding season fast approaching. But, as of late, it was the pure cotton striped midi dress that took me be surprise - especially with its £45 price point.
Crafted from airy cotton for a comfortable fit, the dress features green-and-white stripes in a soft pastel, reminiscent of a striped M&S dress I previously spotlighted for its understated charm. With its breezy silhouette and vintage inspired motif, the dress easily captures the easy, breezy, charm of coastal summer dressing.
It also features a shirred waist which is a great design addition, but also means it comes with natural stretch sewn into the pleats - great news if you prefer a frock with a bit more give, especially as warm temperatures call for far more breathable pieces.
Pair with comfortable shoes for a day exploring in a Mediterranean city, or with sandals on the beach - or even in your back garden if you don't have any holiday plans until the end of June.
