Every so often, a Marks & Spencer piece comes along that completely takes over my social media feeds, and the brand’s new £34 blouse is the latest. With its flattering silhouette and feminine detailing, I wasn’t surprised to see it generating so much hype. What did surprise me, however, was the fact that it’s still in stock.

Pretty cotton blouses reign supreme in my wardrobe come summer. Much more polished than a tee, yet just as easy to style and breathable. A good blouse will do all the hard work for you, making even the simplest outfit feel put-together, and M&S’s does just that.

First, there’s the shape. A square neckline is always a winner in my book. It promises to look effortlessly chic and is particularly flattering if, like me, you have a fuller bust. The lace-trimmed decoration here adds a vintage touch, too.

Beyond the neckline, it follows the natural shape of the body, gently nipping in at the waist for a defined silhouette. Turn it around and you’ll spot a tie detail at the back, allowing you to cinch it in even further.

Puff sleeves are a welcome addition, too. Not only do they lend the blouse a romantic je ne sais quoi, but they also help to balance the silhouette and provide enough coverage for those of us who prefer to keep our upper arms covered.

Better still, the blouse comes in two of summer’s trendiest colours. Butter yellow is the season’s most optimistic shade and looks particularly chic paired with denim. For minimalists, meanwhile, there’s classic black – a colour that’s unexpectedly proving popular this summer and is endlessly easy to style.

For everyday ease, pair the blouse with your favourite jeans and a pair of Mary Jane flats. Come evening, it can easily be dressed up with a satin slip skirt and kitten heels for soirées.

Though it might be in stock now, I don’t expect it to last for long...
