Holidays are coming, and if you’re lucky enough to be headed somewhere gorgeous to relax for a week or two, you’ll need a cute bag to carry the only things you’ll need for a day.
You may well have that bag, and if you do, you won’t need to read this. But if, like me, your most loved beach bag was made of woven paper and got ruined by two forgotten bananas last summer, you’ll be looking for something affordable and summery. If it makes you happier just by looking at it, that’s a bonus. Or should I say Bonas?
Because today I noticed that the British brand Oliver Bonas - which is owned and run by a real human man called Oliver Tress (the Bonas part is the name of his then girlfriend) - has said incredibly cute, useful and fun-to-look at bags in their summer sale.
The even better news is that they’re at very pocket-friendly prices, starting at £18. Each one is a mood; the Arancina bag is a woven cotton tote in red and white stripes featuring an embroidered orange with a sunrise behind it; long handles make it ideal to throw in your daily essentials and go. And it's 50% off, from £48 to just £24.
The most secure, and the best value of the bags, is their large square woven paper straw bag with a magnetic closure, it features a cotton lining and a cute orange charm and is down from £48 to £32.
The Ciao Bella mesh bag is not the sort of thing I’d ever carry in my daily life, but given a beach bag is supposed to be as far away from your everyday life bag as possible, it becomes the perfect vehicle to carry a good summer book, a towel, sunscreen and your phone and room key. I mean, what else is there?
The Pera Fresca cotton tote in pink and green is another fun option, and if, like me you love pink and green as a colour combination (I even went so far as to make my kitchen pink and green), this one is a keeper, and down from £26 to £18.
If you’re looking to coordinate your summer dress with your bag, and you’ve gone for a dress in the colour of the summer – chocolate brown, or pale sky blue, or maybe even both – Oliver Bonas has a brown and blue polka dot bag.
Or for something brighter it has a striped pink orange and brown woven bag, from from £48 to £32. To my eyes this one is a classic which will look great for summers to come.
For something a little wilder, Oliver Bonas also has included brown and cream woven animal print tote bag in their sale down from £48 to £32, and as perfect for a stroll to the market to buy produce as it is for the beach.
So, you see, replacing a lost or broken beach bag has suddenly become a lot easier, more fun and affordable than you thought possible.
