When I first saw a friend wearing it, I genuinely thought she was wearing classic Prada. When she told me it was from John Lewis's early autumn collection and cost just £59, I went straight to the site to buy one for myself. And it was sold out.
Not surprising, given that the lightweight acetate fabric has the look and feel of silk, while the elegant botanical floral print is set against a poppy-red backdrop that looks hand-painted all the way down to the contrasting white hem.

The skirt also has a subtly crinkled finish (very Prada), which only adds to its charm, and features a back slit that gives it an elegance that works just as well for polished daytime dressing as it does for evening.
And now for the good news: today, this skirt came back into stock in every size from 6 to 20. I honestly believe that if you're looking for a supremely elegant skirt to wear for work or social occasions, you can't go wrong with this one.

It's easy to style now with a light cotton poplin shirt or a slim-fitting slash-neck or round-neck T-shirt, paired with kitten-heel sandals or flat crossover sandals.
When the weather turns more autumnal, simply layer on a round-neck knit, and style with pointy-toed pumps or knee-high boots, throw on a classic coat, and you'll look even more stylish as the leaves start to fall.
