I'd like to think I have quite the collection of going out tops, from sheer, floaty favourites to delicate satin blouses with lace edge detailing that feel especially feminine. Recently, however, I felt that, despite the seemingly never ending selection, I was missing a touch of drama from my roster.

As if by luck, I started noticing a particular style with endless flair: the cape silhouette. I’d always thought it was reserved for dresses (and coats come the chillier months), but now, it’s started appearing on tops and blouses, too.

The best versions I’ve seen so far come from M&S, and the high street brand recently released an especially unique take on the trend. Of course, it’s hard to imagine a style this statement making becoming even more distinctive, but the Animal Print Cape Detail Blouse has proven otherwise, thanks to its bold, tiger print motif.

Yet, cape detailing isn't the only surprising trend this blouse nails. You've probably spotted that it comes with a funnel neck - another feature usually found on coats - except this time, it's crafted in a lightweight material that instead of protecting you from the cold, will keep you cool during these especially warm summer months.

As with plenty of going out tops, seasonal versatility is practically guaranteed. I can’t wait to wear it with my chic Bermuda shorts now, then pair it with my go-to denim jeans come autumn - and a pair of pointed toe kitten boots.
