The sporty track pant has been one of this year's standout pieces, and works for every occasion – we've been styling ours with heels and blazers in the office, or wearing with simple T-shirts and flip flops on the weekends.
The trend started with the classic Adidas Firebird straight-leg style at the beginning of the year, before morphing into the sporty side-stripe shorts that have been everywhere this summer, and now we've got the very stylish autumn iteration: the flattering barrel-leg Firebird.
It's the perfect lounging trouser for cosy season, with a comfy elasticated waist, a balloon-leg shape and a tapered leg. It would also make a great airport trouser if you're jetting off for an end-of-summer break. Just add a cashmere knit and ballet pumps (I always travel in my Firebirds).
We love them in the khaki colourway, but they also come in black, brown and burgundy for the new season.
If barrel isn't your style, however, Adidas has also released them in a straight-leg cropped version, which would look great paired with a blue shirt and kitten heels for that high/low mix.
Or if you want to lean into the checked trend that's coming in for autumn, this pair of original Firebirds is also on our wish list.
For those after the sporty, track pant style but looking for something a little bit dressier, without the Adidas branding, there are plenty of tailored, side-stripe styles on the high street. Here are just some of our favourites.
Best side-stripe tailored trousers on the high street
The tailored track pant is one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your wardrobe and its appeal means it's very much sticking around for autumn. Who wants a hard trouser when you can slip into these.
