Deer, fawn, Bambi - whatever you like to call it, it's the adorable print trend that has taken over the fashion conversation this season. The subtly dotted, tan brown speckled motif has quickly crept into our favourite fashion brands, from high end to high street, and every stylish person I know has jumped on the whimsical trend.

Of course, it's no surprise that the animal print trend has taken off so fast. Leopard print is so popular it's basically a neutral now, as is cow print, which I've seen featured on pretty much every iteration of Adidas shoe, from the Spezial to the Samba. But there's something slightly more pared back about deer print, which explains why it's slotting so seamlessly into wardrobes everywhere. My favourite piece in the flecked motif? I think Next's Long Sleeve Crew Neck Cardigan is one of the best around.

Constructed from a lightweight yet warming wool and alpaca blend, the cardigan is a great choice for the current weather - that strange, hard to navigate in between season where a jacket feels essential first thing in the morning, but far too stuffy by lunchtime, leaving you to carry it around for the rest of the day.

Unlike louder animal prints, the flecked motif feels surprisingly versatile, with a soft camel base that pairs effortlessly with blue denim, chocolate brown tailoring or creamy ecru trousers. I'd wear it buttoned up with wide leg jeans and loafers now, before layering it under a trench or heritage check jacket once the temperatures start to drop.
