I’ll hold my hands up: I have a denim obsession. I spent all summer looking forward to autumn so I could slip back into my trusty jeans. But after months spent in breezy linen trousers and floaty cotton skirts, slipping back into rigid denim can come as a bit of a shock. Thankfully, Next’s clever mom jeans offer the perfect solution.
They tick all the boxes. With a universally flattering silhouette, plenty of pockets (no sneaky fake ones here!) and two versatile washes for autumn — they have all the hallmarks of a great pair of jeans. But there is one thing that sets them apart: crafted from Next’s ‘stretch denim’, they’re genuinely comfortable too.
Jeans and comfort don't often go hand in hand, which is exactly why these went straight into my basket. At just £30, it's a great price for a pair of jeans, especially when they're designed to move with you all day — no digging in, just easy stretch.
Comfort aside, they look just as good as they feel. Since their return in the early 2010s, mom jeans have remained a key silhouette in denim for good reason. Next’s pair sits neatly on the waist, with a slim fit through the hips and thighs before gently tapering towards the ankle.
It's this slim, tapered shape makes these jeans look effortlessly polished. Of course, you can keep your styling casual (the classic white-tee and jeans combo never goes out of style), but they're just as easy to dress up for the office. Simply add a Chanel-inspired cropped blazer and a trusty pair of slipper loafers, and you're good to go.
Choose from two washes, both brilliant shades for the season ahead. You can never go wrong with a classic dark blue, which feels equally relaxed and sophisticated. There's also a washed black, which is a timeless wardrobe staple. Both are easy to throw on, pairing effortlessly with almost anything in your wardrobe.
For me, it doesn't take much convincing. A pair of jeans that looks polished without compromising on comfort? That's a wardrobe win.
