I love it when a brand makes getting dressed easier, especially when it understands the power of a favourite top: the one you’d wear every day if you could.
Mine is currently a Henley Argyll knit from Nobody’s Child. Yours might be a striped T-shirt, a fluffy grey jumper or something in burgundy that makes getting dressed and feeling instantly stylish a doddle.
Enter Next, which has taken the humble multipack to a very fashionable place this season. Forget the usual knickers and white T-shirts. For it's seasonal multipacks for autumn, Next has zoned in on the tops we want to wear on repeat, and put them into useful two, three and even four packs, at prices that work for a budget focussed on Good Houskeeeping.
There’s a Henley T-shirt that looks as if you’ve layered one top over another, one in oat, another with oat and brown stripes, plus a plain chocolate brown version. Scarf-neck jumpers come in pairs of burgundy and navy, or light and dark chocolate brown, two for £30.
There’s a fluffy jumper duo in creamy white and soft brown, a wool rich crew neck pair of jumpers in soft grey and burgundy, at £37 for two, and a pair of cosy quarter zip ribbed jumpers in grey and soft brown, also at £37.
What I adore is that Next has understood that these multi-pack pieces don’t need to be boring basics - they can be the key shapes and colours of the season, and they can come in multipacks because, frankly, once we know our daily uniform, were do want to it as often as possible.
You wear the Henley or a fine knit jumpers on Monday and, when you find yourself wishing you could wear it again on Tuesday, you realize there's another one in the pack, in a different colour!
This is the moment to rebrand the multipack. When it contains clothes you genuinely like, and know you’ll wear constantly, it’s not a multipack. It’s the answer.
And when, in the case that four round necked knit tops cost £34, you’re sticking to your budget, too. Fashion cleverness with a spreadsheet brain. I’m listening.
