It seems that every season comes with a colour pairing that quietly takes over our wardrobes. Blue and brown was everywhere at the beginning of the year, while bold red and pink dominated after Jessie Buckley wore the combination to the Oscars. But for A/W 26, fashion has settled on something altogether more muted and polished: chocolate and cream.
Softer than black and white yet just as timeless, the combination has become one of the easiest ways to make everyday outfits feel that much more luxe. Appearing everywhere from high-end runway collections to the rails of our favourite high street stores, the trend is incredibly easy to wear without ever getting close to breaking your bank account.
Naturally, high-street hero M&S has been especially quick to jump on the trend. The brand's Chiffon Spot Print Midi Tea Dress combines the unique colour palette with another style that's always in the fashion spotlight: polka dots.
Featuring floaty chiffon fabric, an elegant bow neckline and a swishy midi silhouette, the chocolate and cream frock is a winner for plenty of occasions, from autumn weddings to weekend lunches. It also comes with long sleeves, which is an added bonus if you want to keep warm when the temperature begins to shift.
Much like the design, I'd keep the styling just as refined. Think chocolate suede knee-high boots, a chic camel wool coat and simple gold or silver jewellery for day-to-day wear, before swapping in burgundy heels and a matching bag in leather for the evening.
It's proof that one great dress can tick off two of autumn's biggest trends in one go and make getting dressed on chilly mornings infinitely easier. I don't know about you, but deciding what to wear when the weather is this temperamental is a challenge in itself.
