We love the comfort of our ‘fashion’ trainers but we couldn't wear our white Adidas on a cross-country dog walk. So, if you want a comfy pair of trainers that can also cope with a muddy hike, we have good news. FitFlop has created a collection of trainer/walking shoe hybrid footwear you can wear everywhere and in any weather.
There are two styles and a range of colourways to choose from. The first is the Wylder Leather Trainer, which is designed like a trainer but has lots of clever comfort tech built in, including triple density cushioning in the sole, a padded collar made out of soft microfibre and a thick sole made from grippy leather while being lightweight.
FitFlop says the grip is suited to heavy trails and thick mud, which makes them more than equipped for autumn dog walks or muddy hikes.
You can choose between simple black and a khaki colourway. We'd wear them with our favourite barrel-leg trousers, chunky socks and a Barbour-style jacket for a comfy outdoor look. We also like that they have leather pull tabs at the back so you can get them on and off more easily.
However, if you want something that's also going to be really waterproof (because we're still being told it will be a stormy winter, despite being in a second summer), opt for the new Neo-D-Hyker Water Resistant Trainers instead.
These ones come in four different shades, including cappuccino and a lovely grey-green. They also have a sock-like fit, a chunky, grippy sole, a hiking shoe-style lacing system and a quilted, waterproof outer layer.
They're real multitaskers that you will work for rainy commutes as well as weekend walks. We like the black colourway in particular – it's a versatile outdoor shoe. Wear with this season's cargo pants and a chunky knit for cosy weekends.
You can say goodbye to aching soles with either of these styles, but if you do want to really treat your feet, these indoor/outdoor shoes look so cosy. They're essentially slippers but because they have a proper, robust sole, you can wear them for trips outside when needed. Just add some warm socks when it gets colder.
If anyone wanted to buy these for us for Christmas, we wouldn't complain. We suggest leaving your phone open on this article...
