“It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights.” As soon as I saw this incredibly fluffy cardigan on M&S today the theme tune of The Muppet Show started up in my head. It’s that fluffy.
The kind of fluffy that belongs on a teddy bear, a Maine Coone or a Muppet. But on a cardigan? Well, why not? Because for those of us who like maximum cosiness but who also love being playful with their clothes, your time to feel like the queen of fashion has arrived.
Fluffy textures, whether it’s for a shaggy Mongolian sheepskin scarf, an Ugg boot, or the enormous Honey Monster inspired jacket worn by Maya Jama on Celebrity Traitors last week (from Agro Studio), fluffy textures are very much the order of the season.
The fluffier and fuzzier the better. M&S have thrown their fluffy hat into the ring with this £40 cardigan, which comes in a gloriously anti-aging shade of creamy white, a rich charcoal grey and a subtly zingy shade of olive green. The kind of green that you can wear with bitter chocolate brown, burgundy, black, navy and indigo denim jeans, cords or trousers and look the part.
Throw it on with a leather skirt and slipper loafers and you can channel Miu Miu’s studiously knowing brand of off-kilter chic, which is the order of the day if Olivia Colman’s appearance on their catwalk in Paris is anything to go by.
And if you can make someone smile as they spot you in your Muppet Show cardigan, then that’s a win too.
