Cast your mind back to the beginning of the year, when bright cobalt blue took centre stage and found a place in every stylish woman’s wardrobe. It made sense, of course: bold colours were becoming more and more popular, thanks to Scandi fashion inspiration (with pillar box red making a statement, too). We were keen to add more colour to our wardrobes in an effort to welcome spring dressing after months of burgundy and black.
Fast forward to now, though, and, surprisingly, cobalt blue has made a rather bold return for winter, no less. While it was a sensible mood booster in the early months of 2026, it’s a surprising colour trend for the winter months - but one that seriously works. Predictably, the high street has caught on to the craze, and Next has released a bright blue jumper that will instantly catch your eye.
An easy way to add a touch of colour to an otherwise dark and dingy wardrobe lineup, Next’s jumper is the perfect colour to add to your rotation if you want to keep your clothing playful and bright, even when it gets dark outside at 5pm.
Of course, its colour isn’t the only thing that makes this jumper so fantastic. It also updates the heritage Fair Isle print that everyone loves to wear once November rolls around.
But don’t be put off by its bright and bold colour. Despite its attention grabbing hue, the jumper is incredibly easy to style, because all you need to do is wear it with other pieces in muted colours. That way, it’ll still remain the star of your outfit, even if it’s just peeking out from underneath your coat collar.
Wide leg trousers and jeans are great pieces to pair the jumper with, and midi skirts in the same colour, crafted from satin, are also a good idea. As for footwear, loafers would work well, as would classic black ballet flats for a day-to-day look. For Christmas parties, swap them for chic boots with pointed-toe detailing.
