From grab to pouch: your must have party accessory is a bag - here are the top contenders under £100

Most of our party outfit planning focuses on the stand out evening dress, but actually, it's the party bags that do most of the talking. Quiet noise, of course - they're fun but they're not too much fun - but they certainly hold their own, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes, perfectly co-ordinated with your party pieces, making a winning outfit formula.

And this year, we're in luck: there’s a whole new wave of party bags that are as functional as they are chic. The era of the micro bag - popularised by Jacquemus - is long behind us; we still want a party bag that can hold all the essentials to keep you going all night.

The newest addition to the evening bag family, the grab bag, comes courtesy of the high street wonder that is Marks & Spencer. Featuring, well, a grab handle for ease of wear, the bag looks especially unique, and one of our favourite versions has to be the silky soft velvet style in burgundy. John Lewis has a similar grab-bag design in satin, complete with a diamanté strap.

Sparkle party bags are delivered in spades at Phase Eight, and we’ve already waxed lyrical about the burgundy sequin clutch with chic gold metal handles. But another that has caught our eye has to be the Twist Handle bag with an overdose of sequins. Mint Velvet’s Kay Gold Diamante Grab Bag is also an excellent choice for an injection of shimmer.

But there are plenty of others out there in unique designs, from Monsoon’s satin bag with corsage detailing for a frilly, feminine touch, to Oliver Bonas’ distinctive Blue Marbled Box Clutch Bag with its swirl pattern and pearlescent sheen.
