We can confirm: M&S' swishy new flares collection has a pair for sporty, casual and chic moods
Marks and Spencer are on top of their flares game, and these new pairs will give your style instant swish

Trouser news! In a word: flares. Specifically, Marks & Spencer’s new flares collection. Though not an official thing, it should be, because their new-in section today is studded with a considered range of chic flared trousers; the kind that will cheer up any wardrobe and add both swish and chic to your step.
I’ve got to hand it to them. Marks and Spencer’s clever design team are frankly so good at homing in on the shapes we instinctively want to wear, and when they do, they offer them in different moods, meaning there is a pair for everyone. So, it seems only fair that I share the new pairs in stock now, because – and this is the rarest thing– every single pair is currently available in the full size range from 6-22.
Let’s start with the gorgeous pintuck flared jeans which have a higher waist, come in midwash blue, dark blue and (my favourite) black, and in ankle, regular and long lengths. These flares are the everyday denim update that work if you’d like an alternative to barrel leg jeans and are looking for trousers to make you feel like you’re in tune with style now.
Like all the flares here, they work with ankle boots, ballerina sneakers and loafers. To pull the outfit together you’ll need a cosy round neck jumper and a cropped, fluffy jacket, which you can top with your winter coat for an easy everyday winter outfit.
For a sporty yet chic mood, the white pique flares with a black side stripe are a confident and comfortable spring-facing choice. They fit the frosty mood for January and will adapt well to spring. They also nod to Pantone’s colour of the year, Cloud Dancer. The dressier version of these come in black with a golden stripe and are equally as stylish and comfortable.
Finally, M&S are also backing high-waisted slimmer-leg denim flares. So far, they have released two pairs of these shared below in dark denim and black, though I suspect many more variations to come. Not least because the nation’s favourite fashion queen, Claudia Winkleman is been making flares her own on Traitors.
If you’re looking for a mood-boosting wardrobe update, M&S flares will deliver that to you, and with prices for the trousers in this edit ranging from £36 to £48, you’ll still have change from £50.
