Marks & Spencer has long been our go-to whenever we fancied a little Friday night treat, thanks to its great value-for-money (and tasty) Dine In For Two meal deals.
Back in the good old days, you were able to pick up a main meal from M&S for two to share, a side dish, dessert for two and a bottle of wine (or something non-alcoholic if you prefer) for just £10. It was outrageously good value for money, which might be why Marks recently raised the price to £12.
Still, it didn't stop us forking out when the perfect 'cosy night in' opportunities swung around.
Now it seems, though, that M&S is scrapping its Dine in for Two deal altogether, as loveMoney spotted a change to the brand's offer this week.
Instead of the usual set price deal, M&S is now offering a third off a range of the same mains, sides, desserts and wines, and you don't have to buy the whole meal deal to get the discount. Sounds good? Well, yeah, but if you do the maths, it means you're actually paying out more per course than you would have previously.
LoveMoney notes that some of the mains are actually bigger than before, so you may be getting more for your money, but no one likes change, especially if it happens to their meal deals.
We've contacted M&S to find out whether this new meal deal is sticking around, or if we'll be going back to the tried and tested Dine in for Two set-up asap. THANKFULLY, they have confirmed that this is just a trial and 'we will be back to three courses and bottle of wine at a fixed price next month'. PHEW.
