The clocks have gone back, the heating is on (just us?!) and it's getting dark far too early, which can only mean one thing: it's officially peak comfort-food season. And just in time for National Roast Dinner Day today (4 November), because M&S has launched a new Family Roast Dine In deal that's making a very good case for popping into your nearest store on your way home tonight.

For just £20, you can pick one generous main and three sides that comfortably feeds four people, with a, slightly intimidating 420 possible combinations to choose from and savings of up to £14.50, it's a brilliant option for those who really can't be bothered to think about dinner.

There are all the classics you'd expect, including slow cooked boneless tender British beef, a boneless outdoor bred ultimate British pork crackling joint and salt & pepper British whole chicken. Then you can pile your plate high with roast potatoes, eight Yorkshire puddings, honey roasted carrots and spring greens, cavolo nero & peas.

If you're after something a little less meaty, there's also a Roast-in-the-bag wild garlic salmon side or mushroom stroganoff pie, while tasty sides include herby hasselback potatoes, cheesy green vegetable bake and various root veg for roasting.

And M&S isn't stopping there. From 25 November, its £15 Slow Cooked Dine In will bring even more winter comfort, with one main and two sides serving two people.
