With Easter less than seven weeks away, Mini Egg season is officially in full swing. But before you rush out to buy a 1kg bag of your beloved Cadbury Mini Eggs, we’re here to tell you that Waitrose has launched a mini version to rival the original.

If you love Mini Eggs, you might be thinking, why would I want them to be even tinier? But trust us, these teeny-weeny milk chocolate eggs are twice as moreish – and you can fit an entire handful in your mouth at once.

We can’t stop eating them and colleagues have been flocking to our desks to pinch a few on their way past. They’ve had rave reviews online, too, with one customer declaring they would ‘definitely recommend these more than a certain leading brand!’.

The limited-edition treat comes in a 200g box filled with pastel-coloured, speckled, sugar-coated eggs. They’re about the size of my little fingernail, or a little bigger than a Smartie, and you get loads in the pack for £4 a pop.

The chocolate inside is super-creamy, and the crunchy shell-to-choc ratio is spot on.

The mini size also makes them surprisingly versatile. We’d use them in all sorts of ways, from baking to mixing through popcorn. Another happy customer agrees, saying: ‘What a super little product – tastes great as well. Ate the first box, purchased a second box to make cakes with my nieces.’

They also look suspiciously like the eggs embedded in the Waitrose Choc Full Egg, which incorporates the mini eggs into the shell, along with popping candy. Kids and adults alike will go crazy for it.

Frankly, we didn’t think the orignals could be improved upon, but Waitrose has nailed it.

Crème ones, filled ones, novelty ones – it’s shaping up to be a very tasty Easter.
