We’ve just discovered another supermarket steal, and this time it’s Waitrose & Partners delivering the goods. They’ve got a spectacular meal deal on right now that feels perfectly timed for the weekend. It’s their £9 Fish & Chip Meal Deal, and it rivals your local chippy.

This isn’t just a Friday-only affair either. The deal runs all week and includes one main and two sides for under a tenner, which feels like a genuine deal. There are plenty of mains to choose from, whether you prefer your fish breaded, lightly dusted or topped with herbs. The lightly dusted plaice, with its gently spiced coating, is beautifully light and perfectly flaky once cooked. It's indulgent without being too heavy. And if you’re gluten-free, there’s also a breaded hake option so no one misses out on the fish and chip fun.

The sides are strong as well. Chunky chips are perfectly golden on the outside with fluffy, pillowy potato in the middle. You can also opt for frites, sweet potato fries or even crispy potato slices if you’re in the mood to mix things up. For something greener, there’s Mediterranean-style veg or classic vegetable medleys. Our only complaint (if we’re being picky), is the lack of mushy peas on offer.

Add a squeeze of lemon, a dollop of tartare sauce and maybe even a splash of vinegar, and you’ve got a proper at-home chippy tea without leaving the sofa. It’s an easy, comforting dinner that feels like a treat but certainly won't break the bank.

The offer runs until 17 March and applies to delivery or collection slots, so you’ll need to be a bit organised on this one. If you’re craving proper comfort food without the takeaway price tag, this is one deal worth snapping up.
