If your “little treat” habit is starting to cost the same as your weekly food shop (no judgement), Waitrose may have just solved the problem. The supermarket has completely revamped its patisserie offering to rival the bougiest of bakeries – but without the TikTok queues or eye-watering prices.

The new line-up includes 16 brand-new bakery launches, from loaded cookies and viral crookies – a croissant-cookie hybrid, if you missed the memo – to what may be the supermarket’s most exciting pastry launch yet: Pistachio Croissant Cubes.

Croissant cubes may have already infiltrated our Instagram feeds, but Waitrose is the first UK supermarket to launch one – and at £2.25, it’s a lot cheaper than the versions we’ve been eyeing up in artisan bakeries.

The pastry itself sounds dangerously good: buttery croissant dough filled with rich pistachio crème, topped with fondant icing and crunchy pistachios. There’s also a raspberry version filled with jam and finished with freeze-dried raspberries if pistachio isn’t your thing.

We’re still thinking about the brand’s soft loaded cookies we tried earlier this year – packed with white chocolate chunks, and topped with pistachio frosting, dried raspberries and crunchy pistachio pieces. If that’s anything to go by, these are going to fly off the shelves.

The new bakery range lands in selected Waitrose stores from today – fingers crossed there’s one near you – and yes, the supermarket’s cult-favourite Cereal Milk Cookies are making a comeback too.

It’s not just own-brand launches, either. Waitrose is also rolling out Ole & Steen’s Danish treats into 15 more stores, meaning it’s about to get even easier to pick up a Cinnamon Social with your weekly shop. Dangerous news for our bank accounts.
