It's turning into a very good summer for freebies. Last week, Lidl was giving away its chocolate caterpillar cake to rival Colin and Cuthbert, while Greggs celebrated the heatwave by handing out free iced matcha lattes. Now, Tesco is joining the party by giving away thousands of free bowls of strawberries and cream to mark the arrival of Wimbledon.

And with warmer weather returning just in time for the weekend, we can't think of a more quintessentially British summer treat.

On Thursday 2 July and Friday 3 July, Tesco will transform an ice cream van into a one-of-a-kind Strawberries & Cream Van, handing out thousands of complimentary servings from 11am each day.

The only catch? You'll need to be in the right place at the right time.

The van will be parked at 122 Wimbledon Bridge, London SW19 1PS, just a short walk from Wimbledon station, making it the perfect pit stop if you're heading to the tennis or simply fancy embracing the Wimbledon spirit.

Each bowl combines sweet British strawberries with fresh cream, celebrating one of the nation's most iconic summer traditions. It's hard to imagine a better snack while soaking up the sunshine.

The giveaway forms part of Tesco's ongoing 'Need Anything From Tesco?' campaign, which highlights the retailer's role in helping customers with everything from everyday essentials to spontaneous seasonal moments.

Whether you're already planning a trip to Wimbledon or simply happen to be passing through south-west London next week, this is one freebie that's well worth making a detour for.
