Someone needs to check in with Marks & Spencer's Kathryn Turner, because the retailer seems to have gone mad for ginger-flavoured everything.
Pushing pistachio into the background, we've spotted the retailer launch not one, not two, but THREE ginger-y products in the past couple of weeks alone. And yes, I think one in particular is going to replace our gingerbread latte whip obsession.
OK, first up, we have the Gingerbread and White Chocolate Cookie Cup. Designed for one, this individual dessert is perfection. The soft, squidgy gingerbread cup has just the right level of spice, and it's filled with a creamy white chocolate cheesecake mixture. But they don't stop there! Oh no. Ribbons of salted caramel sauce bring it all together, with a sprinkling of white chocolate chunks, shortcake biscuit curls and little fudgy pieces. A triumph in bakery innovation.
I would make a detour for this. In fact, I have. Multiple times.
And because this wowed me so much, I had to continue on my gingerbread quest. Which led me to this giant Gingerbread and White Chocolate Cookie Dough. It takes the same winning combination of flavours – soft cookie dough, creamy white chocolate chunks and warming ginger – supersizes it (admittedly, you might have to share this one) and then heats the whole thing up.
Perfect now the weather is feeling a whole lot fresher, it's exactly what you want to tuck into while watching The Traitors with a blanket over you. The textures are next level: fudgy in the middle with crisp edges. Yum. And even better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Which leads me neatly to my third gingerbread find: the Chocolate Ginger Cookie Dough. You'll find these bite-sized wonders in the freezer aisle and, wowza, are they packed with spice. The frozen cookie dough bites are wrapped in a thick layer of white chocolate (it's clearly a winning combination!) and are on standby for when you just want to finish your night with a little something sweet, without committing to a full-blown dessert.
The brand is clearly backing ginger as a flavour trend this year – it even brought out a now-sold-out glass gingerbread and white chocolate Christmas decoration.
Kathryn Turner has spoken: ginger is officially having a moment.
