Easter egg shopping has become a lot more thoughtful in recent years, and for many of us, it’s no longer just about which chocolate tastes best. Increasingly, shoppers are paying closer attention to ingredients, and one that often raises questions is palm oil.

Palm oil is one of the most widely used ingredients in the world, found in everything from chocolate to cosmetics. The concern isn’t the ingredient itself, but how it’s produced. In some cases, palm oil farming has been linked to deforestation, habitat loss for endangered wildlife and wider environmental damage. While there are more sustainable and certified sources available, many people are choosing to avoid it altogether when they can, especially when it comes to treats like Easter eggs.

That’s where palm oil-free options come in. By choosing eggs made without palm oil, shoppers can feel more confident about what they’re buying, without compromising on flavour or quality.

To make things easier, the Good Housekeeping Institute has put a selection of palm oil-free Easter eggs to the test, tasting and rating each one to find the very best options on the market this year. We have tasted over 100 Easter eggs, and surprisingly over 40 from the list are palm-oil free. Here's a list of each one available on the high street, and how each one scored.
