The best letterbox flowers for easy gifting, tried and tested
These seasonal blooms are available last minute and approved by the GHI
Tested by Blossom BoothroydHomes Testing Manager
A box packed with your favourite flowers arriving through the door is much more exciting than the usual stack of bills and flyers. Which is exactly why the best letterbox flowers make the classiest of gifts.
They’re perfect for budding florists because they need to be arranged rather than arriving tied together. And just like with traditional flower delivery services, you can personalise your gift by selecting a design you know they’ll love.
Best letterbox flowers to buy in 2026
Crucially, the element of surprise is on your side too, as you don’t have to worry if your loved one is going to be in to receive their floral treat. Postbox flowers arrive carefully packaged in a slim box (they should be well cushioned with delicate buds encased in protective nets), so they can fit easily through the letterbox, even if no one’s home. Just avoid sending them if your friends or family are on holiday, as the flowers will need a drink within several hours to perk up.
We’ve tried and tested the best flower delivery services too, but we wanted to know where to turn specifically for a letterbox bouquet. So, the GHI experts sent out 66 boxes to find the very best.

Our pick: Sweet Spring, £36.99
Serenata’s carefully packaged stems were real panel pleasers. They arrived in pristine condition, accompanied by an illustrated guide to the flowers included, detailed care instructions and two sachets of plant food. As a result, our blooms flourished for over ten days, both at the GHI and in our panellists’ homes.
There’s a great array of designs on the website, which is easy to navigate – and it has a dedicated page for cat and dog-friendly arrangements. Overall, everyone would recommend Serenata’s flowers, making it a top pick for gifting.

Our pick: Pink Parfait Letterbox, £28.95
Eye-catching, affordable and long-lasting, Bunches’ letterbox flowers scored full marks with our at-home panel. Everyone enjoyed receiving their posy and would recommend the brand to friends and family.
The website is easy to navigate, and all our flowers surpassed the promised seven-day freshness guarantee, with some blossoming for up to two weeks.
The brand’s customer service stood out too; one panellist received some wilted stems and as soon as they got in touch, a replacement was sent out, which lasted beautifully. So you can gift with total peace of mind.

Our pick: Spring Daffodils Letterbox, £28
One of our panellists declared there was “nothing to dislike” about Flying Flowers’ deliveries but we won’t end our review there. Testers found their flowers mirrored what was displayed online, and because all the stems arrived in bud, they outlasted their longevity claims.
The website is easy to navigate (you can sort by species, colour and occasion), and you can add chocolates to your order. There are only five letterbox bouquets to choose from, but they’re reasonably priced, and all make for a feel-good gift.
| Price range | £27 - £32 |
|---|---|
| Delivery options | Available throughout mainland UK with some postcode exclusions; free next day delivery; guaranteed courier services also available |
Pros
- Intuitive website with big selection of bouquets and thoughtful additional gifts
- Lasted at least 10 days for most testers
Cons
- Odd bud that didn't open and early-wilting rose on test
Score: 92/100
Our pick: The Isolde, £34
When it comes to finding the perfect floral match for your loved one, you can’t beat Bloom & Wild’s letterbox selection. You can filter by colour, occasion and price, and even add chocolate or a letterbox-friendly vase! The listings also include a warning if any of the stems isn’t pet friendly.
The brand is a B-Corp, meaning it’s committed to maintaining high ethical and sustainable standards. And now, it tracks the carbon footprint of every stem to create arrangements that leave less of an impact and help it reduce bouquet emissions by 7 per cent each year. Our current pick is one of its "carbon budget" designs (Bloom & Wild says it saved the equivalent carbon of three takeaway hot drinks) and there are plenty more to choose from.
On test, the flowers arrived safely packaged, still in bud and with two sachets of food. There was helpful guidance on how to display them too, with most testers finding their flowers remained fresh for an impressive period (at least ten days for most). In fact, everyone would recommend the online florist to friends and family. A savvy go-to for little boxes of joy.

Letterbox bouquet tested: Letterbox Lavender, £33.99
A stand-out for seasonal blooms, Appleyard’s letterbox flowers ooze luxury, with long stems that lasted for days on end on test. Roses came with hydration pods, and there was detailed bouquet care, too.
There are some delivery limitations (and one tester found the box didn’t fit through their door) but for a more premium gift, Appleyard ticks our boxes.
| Price range | £24.99 - £36.99 |

Letterbox bouquet tested: Our Florist's Pick, £35
Flowerfix’s classy blooms wowed our testers who all said they’d use the service again for gifting. Impressively, the brand grows to order, meaning your flowers are cut shortly before they’re sent, eliminating any leftover wilting stock.
Boxes were bursting with flowers and foliage, came with detailed care instructions, and the gift notes were handwritten. In the lab, they flourished beautifully for 13 days – in fact, one tester said they only got prettier as they aged.
When ordering, you can filter by occasion. You can’t narrow down by colour, but there’s a carefully curated selection of bouquets, so it is easy to select the right gift by eye and you can add a chocolate bar for that extra finishing touch.
| Price range | £24 - £40 |
|---|---|
| Delivery options | Delivers Tuesday to Saturday; Free next day delivery; Additional courier services available; No delivery on bank holidays |
Pros
- Luxe, seasonal arrangements
- Long stems meant they remained fresh for longer
Cons
- Limited selection of letterbox bouquets and no additional items available
Score: 89/100
Our pick: Feeling Good, £30
This is another florist that claims to be committed to more sustainable and ethical business practices (the brand uses Fairtrade suppliers or ones it has vetted to ensure they are ethical, for example). And as well as doing good, its blooms look the part, impressing our testers with buds that opened within two days, and remained fresh for over 10.
Some orders weren't delivered through the letterbox, and you can’t add anything to the order (not even chocolate), but the packaging is recyclable, and the flowers come with care guidance and flower. Lengthy stems also mean you can regularly trim them down to keep them bright and beautiful for longer – ideal for making the most of any bud vases you have lying around.
| Price range | £25 - £30 |
|---|---|
| Delivery options | UK with some postcode restrictions; next day delivery available – free via the app or £4 online; no delivery on bank holidays |
Pros
- Arrived in bud, and lasted for over a week
- Affordably priced
Cons
- Limited choice and website filters
Score: 89/100
Our pick: The Shades of Pink Letterbox, £22
Funky Pigeon is another great pick for sending a personalised card alongside your blooms – you can even divert the gift card to your address so you can write a personalised message before posting it on.
There aren’t a lot of filters to help you select your perfect letterbox flowers, but they all arrived in bud on test and came with two food sachets and care guidance. They offer good value for money too, remaining nice and fresh for at least ten days. A reliable pick.

How we test letterbox flowers
Our experts sent out 66 letterbox posies to find the best flowers by post. Five from each brand went to our panel of testers across the UK, while one was also delivered directly to the GHI lab.
Our panel of testers reported back on how the flowers were packaged, if they arrived in a good condition, what they thought of the blooms, how long they lasted and if they had to contact customer services at all.
In the lab, our experts also judged the ordering process, and timed how long each bouquet lived for, to compare against any freshness claims.
We’ve tried to link to the bouquet we tested where possible, but due to flowers’ seasonal nature, some designs are no longer available, so we’ve highlighted our favourites instead.
Why trust the Good Housekeeping Institute?
Here at the Good Housekeeping Institute, we’ve been testing all kinds of products for over a century – from bouquets to bread makers. We’re very fussy when it comes to letterbox flowers, examining the blooms both in-house and with a reader panel located across the country.
Our letterbox flower tests were designed by our homes testing manager Blossom Boothroyd, who has created test protocols for a huge range of product categories. Our homes writer, Jasmine Vorley, takes our detailed test results and turns them into helpful bite-size reviews.

How do I care for postbox flowers?
Start by making sure your favourite vase is completely clean to avoid any bacteria from previous bouquets transferring over to your new flowers and shortening their lifespan. Then trim about two centimetres off the end of each stem at a diagonal angle – this helps them absorb more water.
When it comes to the arrangement itself, place smaller and thinner blooms around the edge of your vase, and bigger flowers in the centre to achieve a natural, balanced look. It’s worth trimming your flowers every few days and cutting them down as they age to help them last longer.
For the full low down on keeping flowers as fresh as possible, read our guide, which is full of florist-approved tips and tricks.
Do letterbox flowers go through the letterbox?
Yes, letterbox flowers are specially packaged to fit through a standard UK letterbox, so there’s no need for the recipient to be at home. This makes them a convenient gifting option, especially if you’re unsure when someone will be in.
The flowers are usually laid flat inside a slim, sturdy box designed to protect the stems and blooms during transit, with more delicate flowers individually wrapped in protective packaging.
What are the benefits of letterbox flowers?
Postbox flowers are convenient and often better value than traditional hand-tied bouquets. Plus, as they don’t require the recipient to be home, delivery is hassle-free.
They’re also usually sent as buds rather than fully open blooms, meaning they last longer once arranged. Many people enjoy the experience of arranging the flowers themselves, making the gift feel more interactive and personal, while still offering the wow factor of fresh flowers.
How do letterbox flowers stay fresh?
Letterbox flowers are carefully prepared to maximise freshness during delivery. Stems are often hydrated with water packs or wrapped in moisture-retaining materials, and the flowers are packed snugly to prevent movement and damage.
They’re typically dispatched using next-day delivery and sent while still in bud, which helps preserve their condition. Once unboxed, trimming the stems and placing them in fresh water helps them open slowly and last longer.
What types of flowers suit letterbox delivery?
Flowers with sturdy stems and blooms that travel well are best suited to letterbox delivery. Roses, lilies, alstroemeria, chrysanthemums, carnations and freesias are popular choices, as they’re resilient and open beautifully once arranged. Seasonal flowers and foliage are also commonly used.
Delicate blooms can still be included, but they’re usually supported by stronger flowers and careful packaging to ensure they arrive in good condition.
What occasions are letterbox flowers suitable for?
Postbox flowers are suitable for almost any occasion, from birthdays and anniversaries to thank you gifts, get well wishes and thinking-of-you gestures. They’re particularly ideal for surprise gifts, long-distance celebrations or last-minute occasions, thanks to their convenient delivery.
Because they’re easy to receive and long-lasting, they also work well for more understated moments, such as sympathy messages or small tokens of appreciation.
The verdict on letterbox flowers
Serenata was our panel and experts' favourite florist for letterbox deliveries. It has a timeless selection of bouquets across a range of price points, making it a great all-rounder.
If you still need more choice, however, we suggest looking at Bloom & Wild for its modern arrangements. And if you’re on a budget, Bunches is a more affordable pick, although it doesn't have as big a range.
