If you love an attention-grabbing appliance with a party trick, the Roborock Saros Z70 is for you. It has a mechanical arm that can reach out and pick up small obstacles that sit in its way – insanely cool…
Score: 85/100
This is the first robot we’ve tested with a mechanical arm, so we couldn’t wait to try it out in the lab. It’s certainly a fun feature but one that needs a bit more development to be helpful around the home. We found it could move objects like a tissue or a slipper but struggled with anything heavier. Plus, it faulted at points and needed resetting. Still, it’s an exciting glimpse into the future of robot vacuums.
Onto general pick up and it scored full marks when it came to lifting dust from carpet and hard floors but failed to suck up all the biscuit crumbs we laid down, flicking bigger chunks and leaving some stuck in the corners of the room. Vacuuming the whole room took 17 and a half minutes and the app provides plenty of control, letting you set up cleaning routines, no-go zones, and even video access to the on-board camera.
And the techy features don’t stop there. The Roborock Saros Z70 also has mopping capabilities, which is handy for light mess and everyday top-up cleans. The docking station even washes the mop at the end.
