Katie Holmes arrived at Milan Fashion Week in the chicest monochrome look. Her fall ensemble embraced the beige and brown hues of fall, and she was joined by Jason Bard Yarmosky, who wore coordinating hues.
The actress looked effortlessly chic in a white crewneck T-shirt, pleated trousers, and perhaps the statement piece of her look: a midi trench coat. Katie topped the outfit off with a deep chocolate Tod’s T Timeless Leather Top Handle Bag and black tassel loafers.
The trench coat truly brought the whole outfit together. It married the darks and whites of her look and added polish to an otherwise laid-back vibe. Her pose and wide lapels almost make the coat look cropped at first glance, though it actually falls to Katie’s knees. I also appreciate that the coat has epaulets, or buttoned shoulder straps. They add structure to the looser silhouette.
The best thing about Katie’s trench is how versatile it is. Wear it over a sweater dress, a tank, and a leather skirt, or even an athletic top and joggers. Its neutral color pulls just about any outfit together.
