Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, surprised us with her latest formal ensemble—and it was the perfect choice for summer. Butter yellow was having a huge moment (and is still trending), but Kate showed us that bright yellow makes quite a statement, too.
I don't usually gravitate toward yellow, but Kate may have just changed my mind. She recently attended Royal Ascot for the second day of the horse race festival with Prince William. The event is known for royal attendance and prestigious fashion—and the princess walked in wearing a vibrant yellow dress by London designer brand Roksanda.
It featured square sleeve caps where the material ruched together at her left shoulder in an elaborate folded design. The dress cinched slightly at her waist, while the skirt fell loosely at the ankles.
Kate has worn this dress on a couple of occasions, including on a trip to Wimbledon in 2022. But each time she wears this hue, she looks absolutely stunning!
Kate wore nude pumps and a lace hat in the same yellow shade as her dress, all while Prince William stayed next to her wearing a bright yellow corsage. It’s subtle, but the coordination felt intentional. (Can we say couple goals?)
The royal’s dress is one of one, which might not come as a surprise. However, we were so inspired by the vibrant shade that we did some digging to find other dresses within the same color family.
To be honest, it was challenging to find the exact shade Kate wore, but I managed to find a few dresses in similar hues on Amazon that I think could introduce some sunshine into your wardrobe. Below, you’ll find off-the-shoulder maxis, vibrant ruffle sleeves, and chic ruched fabric—all in different shades of yellow.
Thanks, Kate, for inspiring me to add an unexpected color into my closet!
