A little rain wasn't about to stop Kate Middleton from getting in on the fun. During their first visit to the Isle of Bute in Scotland, the Princess of Wales and Prince William joined locals for a game of shinty (think of it as a cross between hockey and lacrosse).
Despite the drizzle, Kate said, “I want to give it a go,” before stepping onto the field. Her outfit instantly got me excited for fall dressing, so I tracked down every piece to recreate the look.
She’s wearing a mid-length Burberry trench coat, and the brand’s Pembury Belted A-Line Trench Coat is a similar style. As a shopping editor, I’m always looking for alternatives—I found a trench from Amazon with a similar structure and length if you don’t care about the label. It doesn’t come in the same deep brown, but it’s available in several other neutral colors.
Kate wore a slim, olive-green turtleneck underneath—which I couldn’t identify but is easy enough to recreate. I found an under-$40 option on Amazon that captures the same vibe.
Looking at the equestrian paneling on Kate’s pants, they look like Holland Cooper’s Jodhpur Jeans. They’re so slim and second-skin-looking that I think denim leggings can be an easy (and comfy) swap.
She wore chocolate-brown Chelsea boots with a rugged heel and sole—I swear they look identical to Boden’s Jessie Chunky boots.
I also found Kate’s exact hat: the Ladies Tweed 8 Piece Hat from the Scottish brand House of Bruar. (Of course, I found a $24 Amazon option that gives you a similar look for less.)
And probably the most fun and unexpected detail on Kate’s outfit that I want for myself: the snakeskin belt with a Western-style buckle. It’s Maison Hotel’s Guadalupe Belt, which unfortunately is out of stock at the moment. There’s currently a waiting list, but you can find $20 alternatives on Amazon, including one I linked below.
The royal might have just confirmed that fall is the best season for fashion. Catch you later; I need to add a newsboy cap and snakeskin belt to my cart.
