Although we can’t see her entire outfit, it’s obvious that Kate Middleton hopped on the granny-blouse trend over the weekend. The Princess of Wales was photographed mid-transit while heading to church, and she was wearing a frilly pie-crust blouse that’s reminiscent of something from the Victorian era.

According to Amanda Constantine, our in-house fashion pro and home & apparel reviews analyst at the Good Housekeeping Institute's Textiles, Apparel & Paper Lab, a granny blouse is “a top your grandma might wear but with a modern twist.” Think: dainty peasant shirts with lacy collars.

Sure, I couldn’t locate the exact top Kate was wearing on the go (there’s not much to work with here re: photos)—but I did find some similar granny blouses from brands like Boden (where we do know she shops frequently) Sézane, Quince, and more.

This certainly isn’t the first time Kate was seen with a high-collar blouse on. She wore a similar top in her family’s Christmas photo last year—and in 2020, she layered a lacy, high-neck shirt underneath a navy blazer during a trip to Stockwell Gardens Nursery & Pre-School.

But this time, the Princess wore her top underneath a gray blazer (a genius autumn pairing) along with Ralph Lauren chandelier earrings and a dark pillbox hat that features a side bow. The look has a modest vintage vibe that still feels glamorous and fresh.

In fact, this particular outfit shows a wardrobe shift for the royal. Recently, she’s been seen wearing sleeveless striped blouses, pleated maxi skirts, and summery gingham dresses. This blouse-and-blazer duo is giving me major fall wardrobe inspiration, and I’ll certainly be copying her look once the weather gets cooler.
