If you like to warm up under an electric blanket or use a heating pad, here’s a crucial safety alert. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued an announcement on September 17 revealing that the JKMAX company has recalled approximately 195,000 units of its heated blankets and heating pads.

The CPSC reported, “The internal wire heating elements of the blankets and pads can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.” JKMAX knows of 577 reports of blankets smoking, melting, or burning, and 53 burn injuries have unfortunately occurred so far.

The products were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from September 2022 through July 2026. JThe recall covers all JKMAX heated blankets and heating pads sold during that period.

Which products are being recalled?

The items were sold as either a one-pack or two-pack, in multiple sizes. The affected blankets and pads are blue, gray, brown, and red. Each blanket and heating pad has a white remote to adjust heat, which is detachable.

Look for the following model numbers on the back of the product’s remote:

  • JKMAX-002
  • JKMAX-7284B
  • JKMAX-6284B
  • JKMAX-10090B
  • JKMAX-8490B

You can also find the item number on the blanket or pad’s package. It’s printed on a white label affixed to the packaging, which also lists the brand name “JKMAX.”
