Shemar Moore’s new series, S.W.A.T. Exiles, will premiere on September 25, 2026, on the Starz network.

Fans were frustrated that the series would not air on a primetime network like CBS.

Shemar Moore is coming back to TV—but some fans are calling out the star for an unexpected reason.

It’s been over a year since S.W.A.T. ended after eight seasons, and fans have been itching for Shemar, who plays Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, to return to the small screen. While he’s been open about the development of the spinoff series, S.W.A.T. Exiles, he’s speaking out about a major update.

According to a report from Deadline on June 29, S.W.A.T. Exiles will premiere on September 25, 2026, on Starz. Shemar took to Instagram to express his gratitude to fans for their support.

“Ayyeee!!! S.W.A.T. EXILES is OFFICIALLY picked up!!!!!!” he exclaimed in the caption alongside a screenshot of the article. “Landing on @starz this FALL!!!! Congratulations to the CAST, CREW, and our team at @sonypicturestv … We continue to defy the odds!!!!"

“To the FANS…. Thank you for always showing love 🫶🏽,” he added. “We can’t wait for you to see what we’ve made for YOU!!!! Let’s go!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥.”

As soon as fans saw Shemar’s note, many shared their excitement.

“YAY! So excited for you guys! You really worked hard to make this happen. Congratulations! 🙌🔥👏,” one person commented. “My kids and I have been eagerly waiting for the series to come!! Let’s go!!!” another exclaimed. “I'm thrilled for you and the team. 🥳🍾🥂,” a different follower added.

But several viewers had concerns about the series moving to Starz.

“Congratulations was so excited to be able to watch this, but unfortunately I don’t have Starz, so I won’t be able to 😢,” one person lamented. “I can't afford another streaming service. I thought it was going to be on CBS streaming. 😢,” another noted. “So much for watching this. Already pay enough for streaming,” a different follower stated.

As the logline states, the show will follow Hondo as he gets pulled out of retirement to help lead a new S.W.A.T. unit made up of young, unpredictable recruits. As a result, Hondo must figure out how to navigate old and new school tactics to keep Los Angeles safe while saving the program that put him on the map.

“S.W.A.T. Exiles engages a deeply passionate fanbase that aligns strongly with our audience,” said Alison Hoffman, president of Starz Networks, in an official statement (per Variety). “We’re thrilled to join forces with Sony to be the first place U.S. fans can experience this thrilling new chapter in the franchise.”

We’ll be on the lookout for this one!
