Tracker fans have a big question for the show.

Season four of the hit CBS drama premieres October 4, 2026, and actor Jensen Ackles revealed on Instagram on August 28 that he’s returning as Russell Shaw, the brother of Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley), for the new season.

“After a long, much needed, summer break with the fam…it does feel good to be back on a set,” he wrote alongside photos from his trailer while on set.

Understandably, fans were elated about Jensen’s return.

“Yesss more Russell for the win!” one person said in the comments. “Good to see you back!!! 👏👏👏 can’t wait to see Russell on my tv with new lines!!! ❤️ see you soon!! ❤️,” another penned. “HE’S BACKKKKKKKKK 🤩🤩🤩,” a different follower added.

Other fans voiced their hopes for Jensen to star in his own Tracker spinoff series.

“So any chance for a Russell spin-off??? 😂😂,” one person begged. “Ong he doesn't get enough screen time 😤😤,” another agreed. “I sincerely hope so,” a different fan wished.

Right now, CBS hasn’t announced any plans to expand Tracker into another TV show. But the network did share details about the season 4 premiere, along with the first-look photo of Justin below.
