Peter Krause’s return to TV is almost here—and the actor is spilling what fans can expect from his new show.

The actor’s latest series, Line of Fire, premieres Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. The show follows the Hollingsworth family, and every family member works in federal law enforcement. Peter plays the patriarch, Mike.

NBC shared a first look at the show (created by Josh Safran and executive produced by him, Today star Jenna Bush Hager, and Ben Spector) with Good Housekeeping. In the sneak peek video below, Peter gives viewers a clue about what drew him to the drama.

“What really drew me to this show is that it’s an action thriller with a family drama inside,” he says in the two-minute clip. “We’re all federal agents—my wife [Hope Davis] is a U.S. marshal. We have a daughter [Kat Cunning] who’s an FBI agent. My son Micah [Tommy O’Brien] has followed in my footsteps in the Secret Service, and then our youngest [Taylor Bloom] has just gotten a job at the [Department of Justice].”

Peter, who previously starred on 9-1-1 for eight seasons, notes that viewers may not know what to expect as new episodes drop every week.

“This is something new in the world of storytelling,” he adds in the snippet. “There’s action and thrills, family drama—it’s something that I don’t think viewers have seen before.”
