It's hard to deny that polka dot is everywhere right now, and The Princess of Wales has long been an advocate for the dotty print. From possibly her first sighting in the spotty print way back in 2013, where she sported a black and white polka dot mini dress (from Topshop, might we add), all the way to the bespoke Alessandra Rich dress that she wore just last year for the VE Day service.
Yet, despite the impressive variety of polka dot staples she has been spotted in during her time in the spotlight (and we suspect she's long been a polka dot wearer even before her time as Princess), there's one dress in particular that I often think back to.
The dress in question? A navy blue and white dotted number from, you guessed it, Alessandra Rich, worn at the Wimbledon Men's Singles Final back in 2022.
As with most of Kate's swishy midi and maxi dresses, her Wimbledon style was a) bespoke and b) from years ago, meaning that even if it wasn't custom made, it would no longer be available to shop. Luckily, Boden stocks a dress that strikes a bearing resemblance to her original, and right now, it's miraculously on sale for £70. Enter: the Smocked Jersey Shirt Dress.
Of course, it's not exactly a cut-from-the-same-cloth clone, but the dress comes with an identical navy and white spot print, in a flattering midi length, with a flattering V-neckline - brilliant if you want something far less restrictive.
The differences? Kate's designer version features tie-neck detailing and puffed short sleeves, while Boden's still features balloon-like sleeves in a longer length, but we think that's great if you're looking for a dress that offers an added boost of confidence.
Shop now, before the sale ends, and channel the Princess of Wales's style for less this spring.
