Hate it or love it, white jeans are one of the ultimate wardrobe heroes once the sun decides to make an appearance. Elevated and extremely chic, white denim offers a crisp, quiet luxury touch to any outfit, one that French women are quick to incorporate into their wardrobes.
The catch? Well, aside from the fact they aren't for people who consider themselves clumsy (whenever I opt for anything white, I become overtaken by the fear that I’ll spill something on myself), some white jeans are simply designed better than others. The difference? No awkwardly sheer fabric revealing pocket linings - or underwear, for that matter.
Unsurprisingly, Uniqlo stocks one of the best affordable pairs of white jeans on the high street - the Baggy Curve Jeans. So, in the name of journalism, I had no choice but to buy them for myself.
Designed in a genuinely good-quality, especially thick cotton-blend fabric, I instantly noticed that the jeans were far from transparent. The fit of the jeans is another factor that makes the style less revealing: they come in an especially baggy silhouette that looks cool and is far less restrictive. Great news, then, if looser-fitting clothing is a non-negotiable come the warmer months.
Another great feature of the Uniqlo jeans - one that always draws me towards their denim selection - is the sizing. Available in 29-, 30- and 31-inch leg lengths, if you're anything like me and tend to struggle with your trousers and jeans trailing along the floor, you're in great hands.
Easy to style, I paired them with my classic black loafers and a lightweight grey cardigan. When it begins to warm up, the options are endless - wear them with a lightweight boxy white tee or a crisp cotton blouse, alongside a pair of suede toe-post sandals.
