Yes, I know! The headline for this piece says “practically perfect”. And it’s not because I’ve just been watching Mary Poppins. No, this Marks and Spencer dress really is practically perfect.
Here’s why. First off, timing. We’re about to experience another heatwave. But this one won’t be all about dry heat. Thirty degrees with humidity is on the cards. For that, we don’t want dresses that cling, we want dresses that swing.
This one does that. But that’s not the only reason why it’s here. This dress is also made from cotton. But then again, no dress made from plastic fibres makes it through one of my edits.
The colours of the dress have been carefully considered and edited down to two great shades by the M&S design team.
The brilliant zingy marmalade orange version is guaranteed to make you feel happier and more upbeat, Trust me, I know all about this.
The other comes in chic black, and everyone knows a black cotton summer dress is practical when you’ve got to get things done.
Here are the rest of the great things. It has floaty, cooling sleeves. It has deep pockets. It’s flattering cut that goes in at the waist and flares out into a generous, well proportioned midi length skirt.
Oh, and it’s fully available in every size from 6 to 24 in both colours.
It’s rare that a chic everyday dress comes along that ticks every box you could possible want from it, by some miracle this one does.
