There’s nothing I love more (from a style perspective, you understand) than a statement handbag with longevity baked into it. My favourite kind is one that catches the eye, is roomy enough to hold essentials without having to organize my stuff like a jigsaw puzzle, and finally, it must improve my mood.
As soon as I saw this chic woven summer handbag by Marks and Spencer I knew it was a winner on all fronts for both home and holiday.
With its open weave, and inner drawstring pouch to keep things secure, M&S has thought of everything. You can hook it through the crook of your arm, swing it from your hands and simply by toting it, it will elevate everything you wear. It’s also expandable, so you can carry it with very little, or - on a store dash for essentials – you can use it to transport things home.
The only issue with it? I first saw it three months ago at the M&S press show. But was it in stock at the store? Nope. So I had to wait patiently until today to tell you about it.
The bag comes in black – my favourite because I can continue to use it well into Autumn – and a creamy white. It’s made from polyurethane, and the inner pouch is polyester, so it’s all plastic. This has its benefits on the beach, or for spillages, and it will last and last for many summers and holidays to come and not date or degrade.
It costs £60, which, frankly, is a bargain for a useful, designer-ish looking handbag that will turn heads and make you look and feel instantly stylish.
As for what to style it with? Anything summery will work. Honestly, you can happily use this bag with everything from a long maxi dress, a linen matching set, shorts and a t-shirt, or even a swimsuit, bikini or throw-on beach dress. On a cost per use basis alone its value is inarguable.
