If you know me personally, you'll know that I have a real soft spot for outerwear (read: my wardrobe is already tight for space). But one thing I'm shockingly missing is a trench coat, and with rainy days well and truly here, there's no better time to snap one up.
Of course, with limited storage, I want every piece I buy to work extra hard for my wardrobe - and that's exactly where Sainsbury's reversible trench comes in. And I'd argue it's one of the most versatile pieces I've seen this season.
I have to say, I never thought the big shop would become one the highlight of my week. But Sainsbury’s fashion department continues to impress me, and this coat might be my favourite yet. The real beauty is that you're getting two styles in one, all without taking up any extra space.
One side of this clever coat is a camel trench. A timeless classic for good reason, à la Burberry. It's the kind of design that goes can be thrown on as you head out the door, and have you looking (and feeling) chic every time.
Turn it inside out and the reverse reveals a smart checked design. It's just as easy to style, but the print gives even the simplest outfit a more polished finish. And with The Traitors returning later this month, I'm taking it as the perfect excuse to embrace heritage checks again (thanks for the inspiration, Claudia).
Reversible or not, a trench coat is one of those wardrobe staples you'll wear year after year. The classic longline silhouette is made for layering.
Right now, it's light enough to throw on over a tee and jeans during stuffy commutes, while still offering enough protection against the drizzle. Come winter, simply add a fluffy knit underneath for extra warmth and you're good to go.
It’s easy to see why it's a sartorial favourite. No matter whether you pair it with your favourite jeans, a dress or a skirt, it will pull every outfit together with ease.
