I never thought the ‘big shop’ would become one of my favourite parts of the week, but with a clothing section as good as Sainsbury’s, perhaps I should’ve seen it coming. Every so often, I’ll spot a standout supermarket piece that I know won’t be around for long – and Tu’s new polka-dot funnel-neck jacket is one of them. Better yet, it’s only £30.
Come autumn, I swear by one simple styling hack: invest in a statement jacket. There’s nothing worse than putting together a feelgood outfit, only to cover it up with a boring coat. That’s why the playful polka-dot design immediately caught my eye.
While the soft baby-pink base might feel like an unexpected choice for the season, the brown polka dots make it easy to style with the rich, seasonal shades we gravitate towards autumn.
The colour combination won’t come as a surprise to the fashion-obsessed (read: me). Soft pink and rich brown were a favourite on the Autumn/Winter 2026 runways, with the likes of Chanel and Miu Miu championing the pairing.
Then there’s the silhouette. Funnel-neck jackets became my obsession last year, so I’ve been practically counting down the days for the style to make its return. Not only does the high-neck collar always look incredibly polished, but it also helps to keep the chill at bay.
The cropped bomber silhouette is just as appealing. Cut to sit at the hips, it has a boxy, relaxed fit that looks effortless and flattering.
Crafted from 98% cotton, it’s the perfect jacket for right now. It’s light enough for those in-between September days, making it an ideal layering piece before the heavy coat season arrives.
Since the jacket is a statement piece in its own right, styling the rest of your outfit couldn’t be easier. Throw it over your favourite T-shirt and jeans for an effortless everyday look, then add ballet flats for an extra touch of polish. It would also look brilliant paired with a swishy brown skirt and boots. Or, if, like me, you can’t resist a co-ord, Sainsbury’s even has matching jeans for just £22.50.
With prices this good, both pieces feel like a brilliant find. I’d be surprised if they weren’t snapped up quickly.
