We’ve seen hot cross buns stuffed with Biscoff. We’ve seen hot cross bun bacon butties. But this might be the most exciting twist yet. Morrisons is now selling a ‘cream tea’ hot cross bun, and we’re slightly obsessed by this bit of news.

This latest launch proves once and for all that hot cross buns are no longer just for toasting. Morrisons is really pushing the boundaries this Easter, and we are very much here for it.

The Fresh Cream Hot Cross Bun, part of the Market Street range, is freshly baked in-store before being hand-finished with a generous layer of raspberry jam and smooth British cream. Think soft, pillowy bun meets classic cream tea - sweet, comforting and just indulgent enough to feel like a proper treat. And at just £1 for a 2-pack, it’s almost too easy to justify picking up “just one more”.

And, for anyone looking to level up their lunch, Morrisons has also introduced a Hot Cross Bun Sandwich, and it’s anything but traditional. Filled with a Black Forest-inspired combination of chocolate cream cheese and cherry compote, it delivers a rich, fruity flavour that feels more like a dessert than a sandwich.

Priced at £3.50 on its own or £3.75 as part of a meal deal, it’s a fun, indulgent option whether you’re grabbing lunch on the go or treating yourself to a mid-afternoon pick-me-up. Easter 2026 is shaping up to be the year of the hot cross bun reinvention - and we’re not complaining.
