Move over Terry's Chocolate Orange, because Cadbury has just unveiled a brand-new way to get your chocolate-smashing fix this Christmas – and we have a feeling these are going to be in every Christmas stocking this year.

New for Christmas 2026 are Cadbury's Dairy Milk Smash Baubles, which take the joy of cracking into a hollow chocolate 'egg' and give it a festive makeover. And we're surprised it's taken this long for someone to think of it.

The new treats come in two 90g sized varieties: Freddo and Dairy Milk Buttons. Each features a round hollow shell made from the signature creamy Cadbury Dairy Milk, wrapped up to look like a slightly oversized Christmas bauble. But the fun actually starts when you smash into it.

The Freddo version is hiding mini Freddo Faces inside (kinda cute, kinda creepy), while the other is filled with classic Dairy Milk Buttons. Cadbury's instructions are very simple when tucking in: "smash, shake, snack".

And if that wasn't enough, the foil wrapper has a little hole designed for threading through some string, so you can actually hang your chocolate bauble from the Christmas tree! We're not entirely convinced ours would survive on the tree until Christmas Day, but we appreciate the idea.

It's such a simple concept, but we can already see "smash baubles" becoming a bit of a Christmas 2026 trend. There's something about thin, snappy hollow chocolate that just tastes different – hence our annual excitement over Easter eggs – and finally we can get that same satisfaction at Christmas.

The 90g Smash Baubles are starting to appear online now, with the Freddo and Buttons versions listed with a price of £2.25 through wholesalers, ahead of wider festive availability.
