After Eight without the mint? We know, it feels slightly wrong even typing it. For 64 years, the iconic after-dinner chocolate has been instantly recognisable for its combination of rich dark chocolate and refreshing peppermint fondant. But now, for the first time in its history, After Eight is breaking with tradition and launching three brand-new flavours – and there isn't a hint of mint in any of them.
Joining the original are caramel, orange and raspberry After Eights, giving the nostalgic dinner-party favourite a seriously unexpected and slightly fruity makeover.
It's the orange flavour that feels like the most natural progression to us. Dark chocolate and orange is already one of those failsafe combinations, so we can imagine the fruity centre working beautifully with that signature thin chocolate shell. Raspberry sounds equally intriguing, bringing a sharper, slightly tangy fruitiness to the dark chocolate, while caramel is likely to be the crowd-pleaser of the three. Although we would have opted for salted caramel personally.
Even the boxes are getting a makeover. The classic flavour will retain its familiar green packaging, while caramel comes dressed in gold, raspberry in pink and orange in.. well.. orange.
There is, however, one catch if you're already planning which flavour to try first. The new After Eights will initially launch in global travel retail from September 2026, meaning airport shoppers will be among the first to get their hands on them. There's no confirmed wider UK supermarket launch in the information released so far, so we'll be keeping a very close eye on this one and will update this page once we know more.
