Broccoli is one of our favourite seasonal vegetables here at Good Housekeeping, and one that can certainly stand on it's own in a lot of dishes.
We love this bold brassica in a range of recipes like soups, stews, risotto, pasta, stir-fries and curries. It takes on lots of flavour when marinated but also has a wonderfully fresh and green taste if you want to highlight it on its own.
One of the best ways to keep the nutrients in broccoli is to eat it raw as it contains loads of enzymes called myrosinase which help to protect against bacteria - but we tend to prepare broccoli either steamed or quickly blanched in boiling water to keep its vibrancy and nutrients, too.
