Looking for a brilliant new TV thriller to see you through the week? Harlan Coben is delivering the goods with his Netflix thriller Just One Look – and we’re warning you, it’s totally mind-boggling. In fact, it might just be the most mind-boggling series yet.
The plot revolves around Greta (Maria Dębska), a wife and mother whose life unravels when she discovers an old photograph of her husband with a stranger’s face ominously crossed out. Within hours, her husband has disappeared – and as she digs deeper into the mystery, she finds herself caught in a web of secrets that threatens her entire life.
In typical Coben style, it’s seriously addictive viewing and you're probably going to have your work cut out turning it off when it's time for bed. But, until then, here’s everything you need to know about the series and why it should be at the top of your watch list.
What is Just One Look about?
Based on Coben’s 2004 novel of the same name, the Warsaw-set series is a Polish adaptation and introduces us to happily married jewellery designer Greta (Maria Debska) whose life unravels when she discovers an unusual photograph. The photograph in question shows her husband Jacek (Cezary Lukaszewicz) and others – only one person has a crossed-out face.
To make matters even more bizarre, shortly after Greta uncovers the unusual photo, Jacek disappears. According to the official synopsis, "Grace searches for him, realising he's been kidnapped while her kids are threatened. The truth leads back to Greta's past trauma."
No spoilers, but if you've read the book, you'll know that a killer is on the loose who will stop at nothing to get the photo. So can Greta save herself, her kids and her husband? Given this is a Coben adaptation, it's safe to say we can expect plenty of twists and turns before we find out.
