You've probably heard that the colour of the season is burgundy and, if you haven't, you'll now start noticing it everywhere from fabulous skirts in shop windows, to the shiny nails of passersby. One person who is always ahead of the curve is the Princess of Wales and, two years ago, she was already wearing the shade.
Back in October 2024, the Princess of Wales was meeting with members of the emergency services, and wore a polka dot blouse-style dress in burgundy. It featured a smattering of small, pink dots which gently contrasted the aubergine background.
Polka dots are a particular favourite print of Kate's, and are also timelessly stylish. The good news is that we've found two very similar shirts in the same design, which are available on the high street. Pairing polka dots with a backdrop of burgundy makes the look feel particularly on trend now, while being something that can be worn any time of year and long after the trend moves on.
The closest we found to Kate's was the 'Supersoft Puff Sleeve Shirt' (above) in 'Dark Cherry, Painted Dot' by Boden which, at time of writing, is still fully stocked in all sizes.
Or, there's the 'Burgundy Polka Dot Soft Revere Collar Long Sleeve Shirt' (above) from Next, which has a lighter feel than the more cardigan-like pick from Boden.
The Princess of Wales has long been a fan of polka dots and, in fact, it's her most-worn print when attending Wimbledon. Navy and white is a particular favourite combination of hers, and she even dressed Princess Charlotte in an almost identical dress to a previous outfit of hers, when Charlotte attended with her mum in 2024.
