It was a nostalgic moment for everyone this weekend, as the lead stars of classic festive favourite, How the Grinch Stole Christmas were reunited on the red carpet 25 years after the film's original release. Jim Carrey, who starred as The Grinch, and Taylor Momsen, who played the adorable Cindy Lou Who, posed together at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday (8 November).
Taylor was just seven years old when she played her iconic role in the Dr Seuss adaptation. This weekend, she was reunited with her co-star more than two decades later, now as a 32 year old adult with a successful music career behind her. The pair hugged in the press room of the Peacock Theatre and smiled with their arms around each other for photographers. Footage of the reunion quickly spread across social media, as fans of the film were thrilled to see the stars reunite. You can watch a video of the moment above.
Reflecting on her time filming the movie with Jim, Taylor said, 'He was very protective of me, very kind, super funny, super animated, absolutely awesome,' during an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast. She also revealed that she only ever saw Jim in makeup as The Grinch while on set, because he had to get there much earlier that she did to have his prosthetics fitted.
Taylor added that it therefore wasn't until the premiere that she finally saw what he really looked like. 'I didn't know who Jim was until the premiere and someone had to point him out to me and go, "That’s Jim", she said.
The Grinch was adapted from Dr Seuss's children's book, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and almost instantly became a Christmas classic, which is still watched every year. Despite a successful career as a child actress and her later role in hit series Gossip Girl, Taylor moved away from acting into the music industry, and has been part of band The Pretty Reckless since 2009.
