It’s been a busy day indeed for the Prince and Princess of Wales, who’ve been getting stuck in at a variety of locations across London. From boat rides to the Bermondsey Beer Mile, the couple have been meeting local businesses and organisations across the capital – and it looks like they’ve been having lots of fun in the process. An activity at one location in particular also led the Princess to confess a new health rule she’s tried to adopt since her previous cancer diagnosis (she’s now in remission).

While at Fabal Beerhall in Bermondsey, Kate was offered a beer tasting by the venue’s founder, Hannah Rhodes. According to The Mirror, the Princess kindly declined saying, ‘Since my diagnosis, I haven’t had much alcohol,’ and revealed that, ‘It’s something I have to be a lot more conscious of now.’ Although Kate decided not to have a sample herself for health reasons, she made sure Prince William didn’t miss out, saying to him, ‘But you like your cider, don’t you?’

And while Kate wasn’t drinking any pints, it turned out she was pretty good at pouring them, as she and Prince William had a go behind the bar at the Southwark Brewing Company – another venue along the famous Beer Mile stretch. Never one to shy away from getting stuck in, the Princess donned a pair of elbow-length gloves and climbed a tall ladder to learn about the brewing process, adding hops into the huge drum.

Elsewhere, the couple visited Borough Market, where they were inundated with members of the public keen to meet them, and got busy serving coffee, icing cakes and sampling cheese. The Prince and Princess were also treated to a ride in an RNLI lifeboat along the Thames after a visit to the Tower Lifeboat Station. The charity is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Lifeguards, and Prince William and Kate were there to hear more about the lifesaving work of its volunteers.

For the excursions, Kate wore a grey and black checked blazer, adding an RNLI branded cap for her visit to the lifeboat station. While on the water, the couple also donned bright yellow waterproof jackets, and Prince William matched his wife with the same navy cap.
