What do you get when you combine a luxury cruise holiday with a baffling whodunnit? The Good Ship Murder, of course. The uplifting Channel 5 drama has built a loyal following thanks to its perfect blend of cosy crime, glorious scenery and feel-good music – and, luckily for fans, it’s not over yet as a surprise fourth is on the way with a batch of "wonderful" new stars.
If you’re new to the series, at the centre of it is Jack Grayling (Shayne Ward), a retired police detective turned cabaret singer who finds himself solving murders aboard the luxury Mediterranean cruise ship he also performs on. And while his sidekick, First Officer, Kate Woods (Catherine Tyldesley), usually joins him, it seems he’ll be recruiting a new partner as she’ll only feature in one of the new episodes.

The cosy crime drama follows Jack Grayling (Shayne Ward), a former police detective who’s pursuing his dreams of being a cabaret singer on a luxury Mediterranean cruise ship. When a series of murders start taking place on board, however, Jack finds that he can’t quite shake off his former life.
With the help of the ship's First Officer, Kate Woods (Catherine Tyldesley), we see him solve a series of baffling mysteries on board the MSC Virtuosa – from a murder at an opera to the murder of charismatic but ruthless vineyard owner. Since it first aired on Channel 5 in 2023, two further series have aired and it seems there’s no sign of this cosy crime drama slowing down.
