The Princess of Wales may be the future queen, but before she met Prince William at university, she was part of a regular family with her sister Pippa and brother James Middleton. Decades later, the siblings all have families of their own, and James has now shared a brand new photo of his son Inigo, which offers an insight into a trait his son shares with the extended royals.
While Kate's nephew Inigo might not related by blood to the royalty she married into, it's clear from the photograph posted by his dad that he has something significant in common with them - their love of dogs and horses. In the snap, Inigo stands among spring flowers in a pair of denim dungarees, surrounded by dogs. In another picture in the selection, he sits on top of a pony alongside another horse and no fewer than seven dogs.
The Royal Family have a long history with dogs, and Queen Elizabeth II was synonomous with her brood of corgis. Meanwhile, horses have always had a part in royal life, and Princess Anne and her daughter Zara Tindall are both competitive equestrians.
However, while a love of these animals is heavily associated with the Royal Family, Inigo's dad James is a dog fanatic himself. He even credits his first dog with saving his life and wrote a book about it, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life. His dog even introduced him to his now wife and Inigo's mother, Alizée, by running over to her at a restaurant. The family now have a brood of dogs of their own, and James previously gifted a pup called Orla to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Alongside the adorable family photographs shared to Instagram, James included a caption which revealed he'd taken a break from social media over Lent. He said that, in his absence, some people had been reaching out to check in on him, and he thanked everyone for their concern. He also described his social media pause as 'wonderful' and advised others to try taking a break, too.
'Many of you have been asking if I am ok. I have been absent from social media for a while. The truth is, this Lent I decided to give up social media (and it was wonderful),' he wrote. 'Sometimes we don’t fully realise the pressure social media puts on us until we take a step back. If I could offer one piece of advice for 2026, it would be to try it yourself; a week, a month, or even longer…'
However, James stated that his digital detox was now finished and that he and his family were officially 'back' on social media.
